I have harboured an interest in short film for quite some years. I have many favourites but am always on the lookout for interesting ideas. Here is a great one. Obviously filmed on a tight budget it is both heartwarming and sadly poignant. If you know of any good short films or sites which have good films please let me know.
This is a tube I thought I had put on years ago. It is part Dove Soap’s ‘true beauty’ advertising campaign. We were discussing perceptions of beauty yesterday and I thought of this film then.
For those of you not connected to Preshil: Tinoan Orange includes Emily and Jess Lubitz, ExPres students. They played last night at a fundraiser and were great. Buy their album on amazon or get it on itunes. I’ve been listening to it since I got it – It’s fantastic.
BREAK: My wife tells me the Tube I put up doesn’t give a full sense of Emily’s amazing voice. (Now can be seen by clicking ‘more’ at the bottom of this post.)
True. Jessie sings this one and I really enjoy it. If you want some of Emily’s singing check out the following Tube or click the link to You Tube’s Tinpan Orange search.
I was chatting with Chris recently and told him about this great Tube. I then went to email it to him and realized that I had not actually Blogged it. So here it is. It would be great to experience being a part of such a great performance.
I am normally not quite so outspoken about my political beliefs – many of you are from school and hoisting my flags around the place would not, in my view, be all that professional.

Groups like GetUp form a growing environmental network across the world, spreading opinions, research, opportunities and News about environmental issues. They are necessary in order to oppose well funded, professional corporate lobby groups which purposefully spread fear and cynicism and influence political opinion. I think we can’t afford to have any doubts about the environmental and social impacts of a typical ‘Consumable Lifestyle’ across the world.
During a recent class in the 6/7’s Simon said that the coal power station that provides Melbourne with most of its power is one of the dirtiest in the world. Surely this puts Melbourne’s citizens at the front of the debate.
